Joann Thompson Smith, 75, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, March 7, 1944.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Mendenhall.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Mendenhall. The burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Earl Clark will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401

Joann was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston H. & Juanita Evans Thompson; her husband, Jimmy Smith; her son, James Rayborn; and her siblings, Bill Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Burnell Thompson, Thurman Thompson, Deloris Hardin, Pat Orender, Herman Lee Thompson.

Survivors include her son, Ricky Rayborn; her siblings, Charles Thompson and his wife Kathy, Larry Thompson and his wife Joy, Steven Thompson, Dovie Nimmo; Grandchildren; Shane Rayborn and his wife Ashley, Preston Rayborn, B.J. Rayborn, Amber Phillips and her husband Chase, Richard Rayborn and his wife Carlie; Great-grandchildren, Cole Rayborn, James Rayborn, Lucas Rayborn, Isaiah Rayborn, Nathan Rose, Shawn Phillips, Kemeron Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Preston Rayborn, Shane Rayborn, Richard Rayborn, Kenneth Thompson, and Josh Martin.
