Jimmy Lee Price, 78, of New Hebron, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 13, 2025, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Born on February 11, 1947, in New Hebron, Mississippi, Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Newton Maxwell Price and Viola Josephine Cole.
Jimmy graduated from Pascagoula High School and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 before his honorable discharge on October 2, 1969, at Fort Lewis, Washington. Following his distinguished service in the Army, Jimmy continued his dedication to the country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.
He was an avid sports fan and held an encyclopedic knowledge of the Houston Astros. He loved music, especially Southern Gospel and Traditional Country.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi, Jimmy cherished his faith in Christ. He counted all members of his Bible study Class as treasured friends. His commitment to his church was unwavering, and he will be deeply missed.
Jimmy is survived by his brother, Rev. Max Price of Magee, Mississippi, and his sister, Martha Price Kerby of Huber Heights, Ohio. He also leaves behind his nephews, John Price (Pam) of Raymond, Mississippi, Philip Price (Terri) of Hurley, Mississippi, and Tim Kerby (Jennifer) of Huber Heights, Ohio; his nieces, Gail Price Brown (Barry) of Margaret, Alabama, and Shelly Kerby Parks of Springboro, Ohio; and numerous other family members and friends
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 9:00am until 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Magee. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Magee. Burial will follow in New Hebron Cemetery in New Hebron, Mississippi. Bro. Barry Corbett will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
