Jewel B. Ponder, 95, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Simpson General Hospital. She was born Monday, October 15, 1923.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Mendenhall.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Mendenhall. The Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.  Bro. Vick Bowman and Bro. Glen Jennings will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Ponder, parents, Oscar Bowman and Alice Bowman brothers, Elbert Bowman and G.B. Bowman. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her church family that she loved so much.

Survivors include her daughters, Paulette Dyess (Neal), Shirley Walker (Thomas), son, Mike Brown (Linda), brothers, Virgil Bowman, Hubert Bowman, sisters, Velma Letchworth and Daisy Williams, six, grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Smith, Bill Floyd, Austin Brown, Ray Williams, Jerry Bowman, and George Letchworth.

Thanks to Bedford Care of Mendenhall doctors, nurses, and the P.T. Dept for all their loving care and also Dr. Singh and Simpson General Hospital nurses and staff.

In lieu of flowers donations be made to Everett Baptist Church Mendenhall, Mississippi or Gideons International 131 Gateway Dr #A, Brandon, MS 39042.
