Jean Purvis Barnard passed away on Thursday, February 1st at the age of 81. She was born on May 21, 1936, in Magee, MS to Willis J. and Cora Rankin Purvis.

Jean is retired from the Universal Manufacturing Plant where she worked for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Magee Congregational Methodist Church where she was very active and enjoyed serving in any capacity she was needed.

She is survived by her husband, Wardell Barnard; son, Jerry Dale Barnard (Cindy); daughter, Melissa Barnard Barnes (Robbie); sister, June Purvis Whitley; brother, Glenn Purvis; grandchildren, LauraLyn Barnes Barr (Jaime), and Whitney Barnes Baker (Brad); and five great-grandchildren, Kaylea Barr, Meredith Barr, and Sutton Barr, Laura James Baker, and Barnes Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Norman Purvis; and sisters, Katie Ruth Barnes, Annie Ree Womack, and Vernell Jones.

Visitation for friends will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Services are Saturday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery in Magee, MS. Brother Chris Garcia will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Magee Congregational Methodist Church. 507 Cherry Street NW, Magee, MS 39111.
