Jean C. Hopkins, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at MS Care Center in Raleigh, MS. She was born to Timothy Franklin Canoy and Lola Belle Bishop Canoy in Simpson County.

Jean grew up in a big family on their farm. It was in her youth that her love of music began. She’d play the piano while they sang hymns. One of her favorite hymns was, “I Stand Amazed In His Presence.” She and her siblings went to church meetings every Sunday and Wednesday along with their parents. They were taught to honor their father and mother and show respect. One of her mother’s prayers was for her children to accept the Lord into their hearts and live for him daily.

Jean truly enjoyed the beauty of the flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed gardening and seeing the fruition of hard work. When she had a little free time, she’d enjoy some fishing. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Polkville, MS.
