Janie Welch McAlpin, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, in Ridgeland. She was born on October 4, 1934, to the (late) Enos and Dollie (Brown) Welch of Simpson County.
Mrs. McAlpin was a secretary for the Department of Corrections.
She is survived by; one son, John Dale Berry (Heather);one sister, Cora Belle Roberts (Henry Brelon); two sister in laws, Marlene Welch, Frances Welch; two grandchildren, Savannah Berry, John Mark Berry.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack S. McAlpin; two brothers, Lennis Welch, Dick Welch; three sisters, Eunice Anderson, Eva Mae Grayson, Lorie Sullivan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. The service is Thursday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Rials Creek United Methodist Church with additional visitation from 8:00 a.m. until service at the church. Final resting place will follow at Shivers Cemetery. Bro. Buddy Bayliss and Bro. Sammie Napier will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Tutor Funeral Home in Magee.
