James T Smith Obituary

James Truett Smith came into this world on February 12, 1945, with a very special life to live. He passed on October 6, 2025, at 80 years old to continue his journey in Heaven with his Savior and many angels awaiting him.

James took numerous paths in his career including carpentry, truck sales, chicken farming, and many other amazing endeavors. He was a strong, resilient, and determined father to Heather and Tammie. To say “to know him is to love him” is an understatement. He raised two daddy’s girls and he knew their love and absolute respect for him.

He was also known as the “favorite” to many others, if you know you know, if you don’t just ask Steve, Gary and Jay.

His greatest loves were all of his grandchildren. He enjoyed hours of riding the wheels off any and all farm equipment with them, especially, Mason and Noah Pastorek. James watched them arrive into this world, loved them, and was very proud of each of them.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Truett Smith; his wife, Bettye Smith; his brother, Walter Smith; his daughter, Sheree Boyd Rand and his grandson, Taylor Pastorek.

He was survived by his daughters, Heather Pastorek and Tammie Smith; brother, Steve Smith; stepchildren, Jacquelyn S. Bowman and James Ray Boyd Jr. and many loving grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Corinth Baptist Church in Magee, MS, at 11:30 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:30 am. Jay Wesbrooks will officiate the service.
