MAGEE – Dennis Ammann, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peoples Bank, is pleased to announce that James Smith has joined Peoples Bank and will serve as the Platinum Club Director. Smith will replace retiring Director, Oliver McLean.
With 36 years of banking experience, Smith has served in the areas of Branch Management and Commercial Lending. Most recently, he was affiliated with Trustmark Bank in Magee, where he served as Community Market President, before his retirement.
Smith is a native of Prentiss, Mississippi and graduated from Prentiss High School. He is a graduate of the Louisiana Bankers Association School of Banking and the Mississippi School of Banking.
Smith is very active in the community. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Simpson County Economic Development District, Board member for the Simpson County Development Foundation, Secretary of the Magee Lions Club, Treasurer of Simpson County Country Club, Chairman of Financial Review Committee and a member of both sanctuary choir and the senior adult choir at First Baptist Church of Magee. He has also served as President of the Magee Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Foundation. James and his wife, Dianne Gardner Smith, have lived in Magee for 13 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Both have experience hosting events and tours for groups.
Ammann said, “We know our special group of Platinum members will be in great hands with James and Dianne. We couldn’t have picked a better pair to help carry on the great success from Oliver and Donna McLean’s time with our club. Our Platinum members are in for a treat.”
