James Phillips a native of Mendenhall, Mississippi, and a resident of Livingston , Louisiana, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away at The Butterfly Wing on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the age of 73.
James graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1965. He attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a Mason and member of Pearl Lodge 23 in Jackson, Mississippi, as well as a Shriner in which he was a member of the Heavy Weight Motor Corps. He was retired at the time of his death. James also a member of the Vineyard Church of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and had recently started to attend Healing Place Church of Denham Springs, Louisiana. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Fran H. Phillips; three children, Clark E. Phillips (Amy); Locke M. Phillips (Rebecca), and Kendall E. Mitchell (Chad); and two stepdaughters, Sunny Brooke Banks (Pete Gautro), and Sydney P. Walters (Justin), and 17 grandchildren . He is also survived by four brothers, Paul Phillips, Pat Phillips, Leon Phillips, and Tony Phillips.
James was preceded in death by his father, John Edmond Phillips; and his mother, Pauline Sinclair; and his brother, John F. Phillips.
Due to the pandemic, the family has chosen to do a celebration of life at a later date.
