James “Grassy” Elwood Taylor, 89 of Braxton, MS passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at his residence in Braxton, MS. He was born Saturday, June 8, 1935 in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Jupiter Baptist Church in Braxton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Jupiter Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Jupiter Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Danny Powell will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Callahan; mother, Alta Mae Callahan; grandchild, Isaac Taylor; brothers, Bobby Taylor and William Callahan.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Sullivan Taylor; sons, Swep Taylor (Donna ) and Fred Taylor (Pamela ); daughter, Julie Dickerson (Les ); grandchildren, Joel Taylor, Mollie Toney (Eli), Kristin Berry (Donald), Cole Mitchell (Taylor ), Abigail Taylor (Sara), Lanee McMillon (Jeremy ) and Cooper Dickerson; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; brother, Chip Callahan.
Pallbearers will be Cooper Dickerson, Jeremy McMillan, Donald Berry, Eli Toney, Tom Sullivan, Jr., and Cole Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jupiter Baptist Church.
