James Gerald Price, 98, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, September 26, 1922.

  Graveside Services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall.  Bro. Rodney Anderson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401

  He proudly served his county in WWII and was stationed in North Africa and Italy. Mr. Price retired from the State of Mississippi in 1982. After his retirement, he worked for several years with Colonial Chapel Home in Mendenhall. He often assisted in performing church services for the patients of the local nursing home. Mr. Price was the caregiver for his beloved wife, Agnes, for many years as she suffered with Alzheimer’s. She passed away March 7, 2011.

 Mr. Price was totally devoted to his faith, his family and his friends. He had a quick wit, a ready smile and a gentle, caring demeanor. He will be dearly missed by his family, extended family and all of his wonderful friends.

  He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Agnes Mooney Price; parents; J.A. and Emma Price; brother, Thurman Price, lost in WWII; sisters, Earline Griffin, Louise Hallman, and Doris Padgett.

  Left to cherish his memory are: daughters, Wanda (Jerry) Grantham of Mendenhall, MS; Judy Dyer of Orange Beach, AL; 4 loving grandchildren, Tim (Cindy) Grantham, Terrell Grantham, Tonya (Scott) Hall, William Guy (Grandson); 9 precious great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; brothers, Charles (Martha) Price, John Price both of Mendenhall and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Pallbearers will be Terrell Grantham, Tim Grantham, William Guy, Scott Hall, Cade Grantham, and Reid Grantham.
