James Gerald Garner (1941 – 2023)
Mize, Mississippi

          Sunday, May 21, 2023, the Lord called home his son, James Gerald Garner.  Born May 10, 1941, he lived the following eighty-two years devoted to God, family, and work.  Farming, cattle, and timber were his daily pursuit, and in each he demonstrated the value of diligent labor.

          In 1962, he married the love of his life, Frankie Meadows, and together they enjoyed sixty years of marriage, raised four children, adored thirteen grandchildren, and celebrated the wonder of one great-grandchild.

          He is survived by his wife, Frankie Meadows Garner; four children, Chris Garner (Samantha), David Garner, Keith Garner (Cindy), and Kim Ulmer (Rance); thirteen grandchildren, Clark Garner (Kaylin), Ladd Garner, Frank Garner, Luke Garner, Grant Garner, Mary Garner, Dave Garner, Al Garner, Brad Garner, Jack Garner, Ella Garner, Noble Ulmer, and Caroline Ulmer; Mila Beth Garner, his great-grandchild; and four sisters, Doris Holder, Doris Simmons, Dimple Nicholson, and Marilyn Nolen.

          He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur David Garner and Louella Johnson Garner; and two brothers, Jimmy Garner and Mack Garner.

          Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church, SCR 64, Mize, Mississippi with interment to follow in Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Danny Adams will officiate. Special music will be provided by Dr. Jesse Smith.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
