James Edward Reaves, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was born on November 23, 1935, to Charles Weaver Reaves and Lucille (Patterson) Reaves.

As a faithful and active member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mendenhall, he ministered to many with his acts of kindness. James was well known for growing a large garden each year and sharing his vegetables with others. He also made Jesus signs that can be seen at many local business’s in Simpson County. He will be remembered for being a very special man.

He is survived by his sons; Don A. Spears, Michael Reaves; daughter, Shelly Troice; brother, David Reaves; sister, Doris (Reaves) Watkins; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie F. Reaves, parents, Charles and Lucille Reaves; daughter, Doris Johnson; brother, Ray Reaves; sisters, Mattie Lee McAlister, Annie Ruth Strader and Shirley Reaves Smith.
