James C (Jim) Wilson, 96, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, 8/1/2018, at Simpson General Hospital. He was born July 16, 1922 in Datto, Ark.
Jim was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Force during the European campaign.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity – he was a true Razorback fan and supporter.
Jim was a long-time retail merchant in Mendenhall – operating Jim Wilson Farm Service for decades.
Most importantly, Jim was a devoted Christian man, serving his Lord at Mendenhall First Baptist Church as deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Those that knew him well viewed Jim as a perfect example of a Southern Gentleman and a truly dedicated Christian layman.
Jim was an active Community leader and won numerous service and agriculture awards through the years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Mendenhall First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will at 10:00 AM followed by burial in Mendenhall City Cemetery.
Bro. Rodney Anderson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Thompson Wilson, parents, Perry and Mattie Wilson.
Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Massey (David) and Lisa Kennedy (Craig); grandchildren, Leigh Ann Massey, Gabe Massey, and Ryan Kennedy; great- children, Anson Wallace, Valerie Wallace, and Haven Massey; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mendenhall First Baptist Church.
