James A. Bankston, 86, of Mendenhall, MS passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at his residence in Mendenhall, MS. He was born Saturday, January 9, 1937 in Raleigh, MS.

  Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall. A visitation will be held on Saturday May 13, from 10:00 A.M. until service time at Main Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Main Street Baptist Church in Mendenhall. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Middleton Methodist Church Cemetery in Louisville. Bro. Bruce Smith, Bro. William T. Wright, and Bro. Earl Clark will officiate. Special music will be performed by Roger Welch, Katrina Mitchell, and James Davis. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

   Mr. Bankston proudly served in the National Guard for 30 years. He retired from the Mendenhall Police Department with 22 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Main Street Baptist Church.

  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Grace Bankston; parents, James Thomas Bankston and Bessie Henderson Bankston; sisters, Iva Joiner and Marie Griffith.

  Survivors include his wife, Sara Fulton Bankston of Mendenhall, MS; daughters, Charlotte Ellzy (Leslie Kenneth) and Nelda Gregory (Roger Gregory III); grandchildren, Amir Jadbabaei and Rashid Jadbabaei (Mallory); ex son-In-law, Amin Jadbabaei.

  Pallbearers will be Ronnie Fulton, Rodney Fulton, Martin Fisher, Wade Hays, Mike Hays, and Arthur Walker.

  Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Gregory III, Kenzy Joiner, Hiram Bounds, and Amin Jababaei.
