J. L. “Hank” Hankins passed away on January 7, 2017, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born on August 3, 1932, to the late Bowers and Esther (Walker) Hankins.
J. L. served as vice-president of J.W. Underwood & Company for over 32 years. He was a vital part of the successful development of Crossgates Subdivision in Brandon, MS and constructed the very first home there.
He married the love of his life, Hazel McWilliams, on June 3, 1954, making their families one. He loved each and every one of them unconditionally.  He was a kind, unselfish, humble and caring gentleman that made everyone he met feel special.
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Garner and son-in-law, Anthony; granddaughter, Elizabeth Garner Ethridge and grandson-in-law, Jon Ethridge; sisters, Emma May, Peggy Kennedy, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel; granddaughter, Kadie Garner; siblings, Vivian Welch, Willard Hankins, Bowers Hankins, Jr., and Billy Ray Hankins.
Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2017, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Corinth Baptist Church in Magee at 2:00 pm with interment following in the church cemetery.  Bro. Jay Wesbrooks will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
