J.B. Tew, Jr.
(March 15, 1946 – June 23, 2022)
J.B. Tew, Jr., 76 of Mendenhall, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Friday, March 15, 1946, in Simpson County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi, with military rites. Brother David Jager and Brother Gary Roberts will officiate. Special music will be performed by Brother Holly Tennison. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401
Mr. J.B. was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He served our country in the United States Army for twenty years. He retired after twenty years as a Sgt. First Class. He enjoyed riding and training horses, fishing, helping with various church projects, but most of all spending time and attending all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s programs and events. He was known by his grandchildren as a “jokester”. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bernice Tew; mother, Annie Ruth Ingram Tew; brothers, Billy Ray Reynolds and Bobby Carol Reynolds; and sister, Helen Tew Sullivan.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Judy Lynn Dunaway Tew of Mendenhall, Mississippi; one son, Michael Jay Tew (Atheana) of Richland, Mississippi; two daughters, Angelia Marie Tew Snellgrove (Eric) of Mendenhall, Mississippi and Terri Lynn Tew Phillips (Randy) of Sandhill, Mississippi; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Lee Snellgrove, John Collier Hiatt, Matthew Carson Snellgrove, Dustin Nathaniel Tew, Joshua Hunter Snellgrove, and Bill Jay Dunaway.
Honorary pallbearer will be Nick Weathersby.
