Dream Extreme, one of Boswell Regional Centers located near the Main Street crossing of the railroad tracks in Magee, hosted an open house in recognition of IDD Awareness Month.
IDD is an intellectual disability characterized by limitations in intellectual functioning and difficulties in a variety of everyday social and practical skills. A developmental disability is attributed to a cognitive or physical impairment that results in limitations in areas such as self-care, language, and mobility. The term IDD covers a broad range of disorders and syndromes, many of which are misunderstood by the general public.

If you’ve never had the privilege of visiting the Dream Extreme…you’ve missed a most moving and inspirational experience. The five day a week program provides a facility that allows Boswell residents a place to learn as well as enjoy their life.

The building has a well equipped kitchen (residents learn to cook)…washer and dryer (residents learn to handle laundry)…an exercise area (residents are walking those treadmills)…a pool table (fun time)…a manicure station (a treat for the residents as well as an opportunity to learn another skill)…a pottery display (pottery is made by Boswell clients at another facility in town and brought to Dream Extreme to sell)…media area (teaching of computer skills)…and I’m sure I’m missing something!
