A friend of mine told me a very interesting story a few days ago.  After hearing the tale, I asked permission to share the info with our readers.  The experiment is a pretty good lesson for all of us!

My work Christmas party was a few days ago.  I only learned of the event at the last minute.  I went to Walmart, got a gift, and wrapped the gift in a Walmart bag…no pretty bow are paper…just a bag.

We played Dirty Santa.  I had the last number.  I watched with interest as the “fancy” gifts were chosen.  My gift continued to “sit” in the pile.  At the end, every gift but mine had been chosen.

I reached and got my own gift and explained that I was doing somewhat of an experiment.  As I unwrapped my gift, everyone just stared at me.  Inside the bag was a $100 Visa card!  No one chose my gift.  This proves even more that to often we judge by the cover and not what is inside.

Man, this slapped me right in the face!  I am always telling my children to look beneath the wrapping on anyone you meet.  I am afraid I am not always doing that.  Sometimes, we miss meeting or knowing a person who could highly enrich our life.

One of my resolutions for 2021 is to look beneath the wrapping.  There is a world of interesting people right in our face.

Happy New Year.
