JACKSON, MISS. – The 77-year-old state inmate who died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford has been identified.
Willie C. Booker, MDOC #94193, was serving life at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman for homicide/murder in Calhoun County. He had been in prison for more than 23 years, having been sentenced Jan. 24, 1997.
Foul play is not suspected in Booker’s death; the results of an autopsy will confirm the cause and the manner of his death.
