On March 18, 2016, Inmate Carl Hoskins was given a three-day pass from serving a 15-year sentence with the MS Department of Corrections for Possession of Controlled substance with intent to distribute cocaine. On March 20, 2016 at approximately 0220 hours, the Magee Police Department was called to a Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault call at Raleigh Annex Apartments where Carl Hoskins stabbed numerous times his former girlfriend in the back of the head with a knife. Hoskins was seen running from the apartment complex into a nearby wooded area. On March 20, 2016 approximately 1247 hours, Officers observed Carl Hoskins and placed him under arrest for Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault.

On March 22, 2016, Carl Hoskins appeared before Magee Municipal Court Judge Eugene Knight where his bond was set at $100,000. The Magee Municipal Court also had a misdemeanor warrant for Hoskins arrest for Domestic Violence involving the same victim from August 2015.
