The recall notice did not specify what states, provinces or retailers received the recalled sanitizer.

Ahstel Studios posted the recall notice with the product destruction directions with the Food and Drug Administration, but reported that no confirmed reports of adverse effects had been filed with the company as of Oct. 1.

The .84-ounce pouches of hand sanitizer contain alcohol and are intended for topical use only. Consumption can cause alcohol toxicity, according to the recall notice.

“Product was distributed to selected retailers in the United States and Canada. Ashtel Studios has provided written notification to its distributors and retailers and is alerting customers via this voluntary recall. While the product is not available for purchase, if a consumer has product which is being recalled they are advised to destroy it immediately,” the company officials said in the recall notice.

“The product is intended to be applied topically to help reduce bacteria on the skin that could cause diseases when soap and water are not available.”

Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Ashtel Studios, 866-Ashtel-1, 909-434-0911.
