By James Davis
The Scriptural passage for today is found in Jeremiah 31:25: “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” The prophet of old is delivering the Word of God to His people, telling them of what He’ll do for them if they’ll but trust Him and obey His commandments. God’s people needed constant assurance that He would watch over them and give them rest and strength, but God also knew of mankind’s sinful nature. Today, we are no less in need of that same assurance so we’ll not forget our need for God’s power and might in our lives. The reading of His Word is vital for the Christian. It is our guidebook for daily living “And while the ages roll, I’ll keep on praising Him, and my voice will never tire or grow old. And my song shall ever be ‘Praise the Lamb, Who Died for Me,’ and I’ll sing it while ages shall roll.” I do love that old gospel song. Let’s always sing God’s praises and thank Him daily for the many things He does for us. Also, while at it, let’s not forget to share the love, joy, and kindness with all with whom we come in contact. We are God’s emissaries, and, as such, we are earthly extensions of Him and His grace.
Happy Thursday!
