HYDE-SMITH, WICKER INTRODUCE MISS. FARM BUREAU CENTENNIAL RESOLUTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) this week introduced a resolution to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and its influence on agriculture in the Magnolia State.

The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation was chartered on Oct. 30, 1922, as an affiliate of the American Farm Bureau.  The national organization was founded in 1919.

“The Mississippi Farm Bureau has been a driving force behind our state’s growth of farming and ranching into the vital economic engine it is today.  Its centennial celebration deserves recognition as it honors its past achievements and looks toward an even better future for agriculture in Mississippi,” said Hyde-Smith, the former Mississippi Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner who introduced the resolution.

“The Mississippi Farm Bureau has been an important voice for our agriculture industry for 100 years,” Wicker said.  “I appreciate the opportunity to highlight the contributions that Farm Bureau has made to advance Mississippi’s economy and stand with our farmers through advocacy, business development, talent training, and so much more.”

S.Res.800 celebrates the Mississippi Farm Bureau’s advocacy for rural Mississippians and its work “to create an environment in which Mississippi farmers, ranchers, and Farm Bureau members can have a better life and make a better living.”
