HYDE-SMITH VOTES AGAINST THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

Miss. Senator Introduced Resolution Refuting Legitimacy of Democrat Plan to Revived Failed Constitutional Amendment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today voted against a Democratic-sponsored resolution to declare the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) ratified as part of the U.S. Constitution.

Hyde-Smith reiterated the fact that Congress lacks the authority to add the ERA to the Constitution by removing the ratification deadline set by Congress more than 50 years ago when the amendment was sent to states to be ratified.

“Supporters of the ERA like to spin it as necessary to protect women’s rights when the truth is just the opposite.  Adding the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution would undo many of the rights won by women over the last 50 years.  The painful side effects for religious liberties, pro-life protections, and other issues would be far-reaching as well,” Hyde-Smiths said.  “ERA advocates need to start a new constitutional amendment process if they’re serious about this issue.”

Supporters of S.J.Res.4 failed to get the 60 votes needed to proceed to debate on the measure.  The 51-47 vote was largely symbolic on the part of the Democrat majority, with its chances of passage in the U.S. House of Representatives dim, at best.

Hyde-Smith, chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, testified against the ERA in February and introduced a resolution (S.Res.107) in March that outlines why S.J.Res.4 is a legally illegitimate endeavor.

Oh yes, let’s have more rights, for the Rights! Let’s force women to go septic, and lose the ability to have babies period too maybe. Let’s keep up our states high birth mortality rate for infants and mothers high! Oh the poor zygote, don’t worry about guns, don’t worry about a child’s right not to die from gun violence, or rights for anyone Not white, and conservative Christian. Disgraceful.

Oh and while you are at it, why not let the males that identify as women compete in women’s sports. Guns don’t kill people. PEOPLE kill people. Had a friend in his own home get gunned down; they stole his car and valuables. Why is it always a white thing. Its a people thing. Bad people do things to good people because they are flat out mean. Crazy escapee killed a preacher trying to have a kindred heart. Bad people killing good people. It’s not the guns, its the people who have them. And if you think by having gun control will curb that, you are delusional. Bad people will find a way. Heck the former Chief of Police in Jackson sold guns to a convicted felon. Yet, Conservative white christians are the problem.

Yay! I’m proud of her. A voice of reason in a room full of insanity. Thank you Congresswoman Smith. You are a lamp on a hill, during a dark season in America’s history.

      First, she’s a SENATOR, not a Congresswoman.

Second, her name is Hyde-Smith, she chose to hyphenate.

Third, why anyone would vote against their own legal equality demonstrates that this person is not proud of who they are.

Fourth, why a woman, whose sex has been historically marginalized by society and the Christian religion, would not choose to have the same legal rights and privileges as men, when the opportunity to support obtaining these rights and privileges is handed to her, would not grasp this opportunity, shows that she prefers being considered second class to men.

“Let the brainwashing and indoctrination of women as subordinates of men continue” – is essentially what you both are saying.

Who is lining her pockets to keep women and minorities subservient to men?

All that are happy, need to remember what rights they have are due to women that fought for the right of education, the right to vote, and to order their meal. May men rule your lives as property! Amen
