Horace graduated from Mize High School and attended Jones Junior College but quickly joined the workforce and worked tirelessly to support his family. While driving a truck for a short time, he developed a love of travel or as he would say “riding and looking”. After his truck driving days, he bought the feed store in Mize and took great pride in serving that community for over 30 years.
Horace had a quick wit with an easy-going personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen. Later in life, you could find him playing dominoes or at home watching some type of music or game show program. He also looked forward to his Sunday visits with his daughters and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bessie Hancock of Mize, MS; wife of 52 years, Betty Waters Hancock; son, Michael Hancock; brothers, Leonard, Lamar, Percy, Oree, Wendell, and one sister, Elaine Martin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Shelli (Jason) Campbell and Beth (Rodger) Pardue; grandchildren Matthew and Katelyn Campbell and Aubrey and Bryant Pardue
