At approximately 05:15 December 24th 2018 Magee Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 220 Ken Garner RD. Due to the close proximity to Station 7 they were also dispatched to the  fire.

Once Magee Fire Department arrived on scene found a single family single story brick structure with heavy smoke coming out of eaves of the home.

Members of the Magee Fire Department along with Members of Station 7 made an interior attack on the fire.

Moderate fire was located in attic area around the fireplace and had spread to the adjoining bed room area.

Fire was extinguished using approximately 1500-1700 gallons of water.

After fire was extinguished firefighters began salvage and overhaul. Firefighters removed several photo albums, hunting rifles, shotguns and the Christmas gifts that were under the Christmas tree.

The two occupants who were home at the time were able to get out of the home unharmed and notified Simpson County Sheriff’s Department of the situation.

AMR was also on scene to render care to anyone who may have needed it.

Glenn Jennings Simpson County EOC was also on scene. In total Station 7 had 6 personnel,2 apparatus. Magee Fire had 15 personnel on scene and 4 apparatus.

The home of Elaine Garner (Kent) burned on Christmas Eve. Elaine and her son Randy lived in the home.

Elaine is a retired School Teacher from Magee Elementary. Her son Randy Garner also lived with her, he is battling prostate cancer.
