Holbrook and Davis Selected Star Student and Teacher for SCA

Jacob Holbrook was selected as Star Student for Simpson County Academy. Jacob scored a 32 on his ACT.

Jacob Holbrook is the 18-year-old son of Dr. Chip and Theresa Holbrook. He is a senior at Simpson Academy where he has received numerous awards. Recently, he was chosen as Most Likely to Succeed, Most Intellectual, and Senior Class Favorite. Jacob is also a member of the varsity football, basketball, and golf teams. Jacob attends church at first Baptist Church of Magee where he enjoys ministering to the community with his youth group. Jacob recently received the Presidential Scholarship with Distinction at Mississippi College where he will study in the fall. He plans to pursue a career in medicine after attending MC.

Jacob chose Kevin Davis as his Star Teacher

Kevin W. Davis was named Star Teacher from Simpson Academy. This is Davis 21st year as a teacher. Davis taught 16 years at Mendenhall High School, where at some point he taught every subject in the Social Studies Department. Davis taught at McLaurin Attendance Center in Rankin County for 2 years. This is currently his 3rd year at Simpson County Academy.

Davis attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson for 2 years, and then completed his BS Degree at USM.
Davis degree is in History/Secondary Education.

Davis said he is proud to be from Simpson County, I have lived near Braxton all of my life. Davis graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1989.

Davis is married to Stacey Davis, also a Simpson County Teacher, and together they have 6 children. Three of these are currently attending Simpson Academy, Davis gets the pleasure of teaching them each day. Davis and his family attend New Zion Baptist Church (Braxton) where he currently serve as a Deacon.

Teaching at Simpson is a great pleasure. Davis enjoys coming to his workplace and getting to know the students that he teaches. Besides teaching History- his favorite topic on earth!! – He has really grown to love watching Simpson Basketball. It is now one of his favorite pastimes.

Davis hobbies include: Historical Site Seeing, Civil War Reenacting, Traveling with his family, Family History, and Simpson Basketball.

His future plans are to teach here at Simpson for years to come. Davis hopes to have many more students like our Star Student- Jacob Holbrook. It is always a teachers delight to get to teach a student with such self-motivation, initiative, high goals, and good Christian moral character. He has all these qualities to go along with his Academic Successes.
