At approximately noon Thursday, June 9, 2022, fire engulfed a historical home located on 5th Avenue SW across from Hand’s Nursery in Magee.  The rental house is owned by Linda Pruitt.

I am not sure of the age of the home but old time locals called it the Kennedy home.  Former Marshal Paul Kennedy (deceased) was raised in this home.  He and his wife later built a home next door to the family place.

The home was constructed of heart pine causing a hot and fast burning fire.

At this time, cause of the fire has not been released.

(Our firemen are busy today and unable at this time to speak with MageeNews.com.  I am sure info will be released as soon as possible)

I hate to see these old homes burn.  We don’t have a ton of historical homes in our area.  When a house of this age burns, history is lost.
