Hilda Sue Jones, 81, of Mize, MS, was born Monday, June 20, 1938, and passed from this life to her heavenly home at South Central Regional Medical Center due to complications of COVID-19 on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

A private family graveside service will be held Good Friday, April 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., with final resting place at Waco-Fairmount Cemetery. Reverend Jeremy Smith, Reverend Arnold Amason, and Reverend Lonnie Wood will officiate.

Ms. Jones, lovingly referred to as Mama Sue, will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Mama Sue had an endearing laugh and smile, loved her precious Savior, and always enjoyed gospel music. She was a member of Waco Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ralph Jones, parents, Hillard and Clemmie Adcox Wood, two sisters, Carolyn Wood Butler and Jean Wood McKinley Duckworth and brother, Shelton Wood.

Survivors include her daughters Rosemary Jones Ainsworth (Dennis) and Sherry Jones Gandy (Larry), grandchildren Kristy Amason (Walt), Justin Ainsworth, Lucas Gandy (Aubree), Lauren Gibbons (Joe); brother Lonnie Wood (Cindy), sister Maxine Wood Vowell (Tony) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also a loving great-grandmother to seven great grandchildren, soon-to-be eight: Trinity Amason, Emily Amason, Bethany Amason, Kassidy Amason, Josiah Ainsworth, Lillian Ainsworth, Ransom Gandy, and soon-to-arrive Owen Gibbons.

For several years, Mama Sue resided at Mississippi Care Center of Raleigh where she loved the staff and fellow residents very much!  The family wishes to thank the caring staff for the love they have shown Mama Sue through the years.

Revelation 21:4:  He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  All these things are gone forever.

Mama Sue’s faith has ended in sight, and her family rejoices knowing that she is with her loving Jesus.

Pallbearers will be Larry Gandy, Dennis Ainsworth, Lucas Gandy, Justin Ainsworth, Walt Amason, Joe Gibbons

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waco Church of God or Waco-Fairmount Cemetery Fund 461 SCR 100 Mize, MS 39116. Phone 601-733-2678.
