*** Update! The Magee Fire Department has returned to the fire station. The rain is a God send. The Forestry Commission is in charge at this time. Everything seemed to be under control.
A fire on Walter Jones Road outside of Magee (but a Mendenhall route) is leaping as the wind whips the flames. The fire started when a Southern Pine light pole snapped causing the live wire to hit the parched grass.
Smoke could be seen as far away as Co-Lin Simpson Branch.
The wind-whipped fire is very difficult to fight. The Magee Fire Department and Forestry Commission are on the scene. Additional trucks may now be at the location of the fire.
The white rolling smoke may visibility difficult.
Before I left the site, the fire had jumped into the trees treating additional fields.
Please be in prayer for the firemen as well as the people who live in the area.
I will keep everyone updated as news is released
