This article was written by Hollin Winters, daughter of Steven and Sandi Barnes Winters.  Hollin’s grandparents are Joe and Joyce Barnes of Magee.

Hollin is quite the writer.  I feel many of you will agree with her point!

HollinWintersYou might not always remember the crazy things you did in high school, but you will always remember who you did them with.
This might be a fact that some of us have to learn the hard way; I personally know that I did: Boyfriends will come and go, as they should when you are young and in high school. But the truth is this is the oldest you have ever been, but also the youngest you will ever be. Spend your time hanging out with your friends, making new friends, going to parties, having slumber parties, and just being social.
I have always heard your friends change in high school, and now as a high school senior, I can definitely confirm that this is true!!!
Of course, I still do and always will have those few golden friends that have been with me forever, but along the way I have gained some truly wonderful new friends I am blessed to have in my life. Some of them go to other schools, some of them live very close to me, but all of them are extremely special to me, and I almost missed the opportunity to meet them because I was in a relationship.
No, I’m not saying don’t have a boyfriend.
Having a relationship in high school can be a truly wonderful thing, some of my very best memories from high school were made during a relationship I was in, but it is much too easy to become overwhelmed in your relationship that you miss out on time and events with your friends. Finding that happy medium of being happy in your relationship, while also keeping your friends close and being social enough to make more friends is the secret!
Sure we might all be about to split up for college, but having a plan to stay connected is important!
College is fast approaching and as bittersweet, as that is, the saddest part of all is that you are leaving your best friends. Although we still have one semester and summer left before we have to say our goodbyes, my friend group already has planned exactly when we will visit each other throughout the next four years! I am excited to make even more friends as I enter college in the fall, but I also look forward to sharing many of my college experiences with my old golden friends! I can’t wait for my very special wedding day in the future when I stand at the altar surrounded by the very best friends a girl could ever ask for!
