Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen Winstead Parish will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Parish, age 92, passed away from this life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in Ridgeland. Reverend Hugh Griffith, Reverend Davis Winstead, Reverend Billy Bridges, and Reverend Vernon Terrell will officiate. Mr. Lyn Holloway will provide the musical service. Interment will be in the Prentiss Cemetery.
Saulters-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Travis Harvey, Kenny Parish, Will Crowdus, Heath Williams, Lyn Holloway, Jason Shumaker, Vernon Terrell, and Gary Windham.
Helen Grace Winstead Parish was born on July 22, 1925 in Prentiss to Edwin Howard Winstead and Sarah Louvie Caughman Winstead (Helen’s mother grew up in Magee, MS). Mrs. Parish was the school librarian at Bassfield High School for 29 years and was a lifelong member of Carson United Methodist Church.
Preceding Mrs. Parish in death were her mother and father; her husband, James Kenneth Parish; a son, James Kenneth Parish, Jr.; a daughter, Laura Parish Harvey; a brother, Edwin Harold Winstead; and a great-grandson, George Ryan Shumaker.
Survivors are her son, Howard Parish (Barbara) of Clem; son-in-law, John Harvey of Flora; 4 grandchildren, Travis Harvey (Jennifer), Jessica Shumaker (Jason), Kenny Parish (Alicia), and Parish Harvey; 8 great-grandchildren, John Harvey, Sally Harvey, Luke Harvey, Audrey Shumaker, Cora Shumaker, Camille Shumaker, Corinne Tripodi, and Jude Parish; 1 sister, Agnes Griffith of Starkville; and 1 brother, Allen Winstead of Lucedale; as well as a host of other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2017 from 5:30pm until 8:00pm at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home.
