Hearts are broken all over the world today as others learn of the death of young Jacob Allan.  Jacob was 12 years old and a 7th grader at Magee Middle School.  Jacob was killed in a gun accident.

Jacob touched many people during his short life.  The tribute below was shared with me…I hope you will enjoy.

I’ve never been able to make myself know,

Why some can stay and some must go.

In my mind I am aware that God has a plan,

Though sometimes, it cannot be seen by man.

And indeed, I am not the only one
Who questions, “Why them? Why this daughter? Why this son?”

It is times like these that I try to see

God is looking out for you and for me.
I am sure that many of us can recall

your love for sports, especially football.

Always eager to go the extra mile,

,And that you did just by sharing your smile.

The joy in your heart could light up the dark,

Though you had little time, I would agree you left your mark.

Bringing happiness to others while you might not have known,

Now you sit gathered ’round the King’s throne.
As the seasons come and as they go,

You will be longed for, more than you know.

But to this hope we will hold on,

Although you have left us, you are never really gone.

By Jesus’ side you will always be,

Watching your family, friends, and even me.

You scored the ultimate touchdown,

You never broke stride,

Welcome home Brother in Christ! You are God’s child.

Arrangements for Jacob Allan are incomplete at this time.  With any gun shot death there is an autopsy which will delay certain decisions.

Jonathan Blackwell posted this information:  I would like the citizens of Magee and surrounding areas to please join me with a candle around the Magee Fire Dept. Tuesday at 7 pm to show the Allan family we support them in this hard time. Bring candles. Hopefully the weather will allow this vigil if anything changes I’ll let everyone know. I will have a helmet passed around for any donations. (Jonathan Blackwell)

Our entire family is exceptionally saddened by the tragic loss of Jacob. We knew him from his mom’s place of business. He was the kind of young man who parents met and hoped that their own sons would grow up to be like. Jacob was always so helpful when we picked up our daughter, and he was so friendly and playful with her — she was very fond of him, and so were we. My family sends our sincerest condolences to his family and hope that they can find comfort in knowing that they raised a wonderful young man who touched the lives of everyone around him, even if we lost him much too soon. We are all better for having known him.
