The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Forgiveness is an essential part of the Christian’s make-up. Confession is also. The combination is God’s way of purging our natures, leaving us with a purity we can only achieve through His mercy and grace. This verse tells us that God is a forgiving God. He will always forgive us of our sins if we but confess them and ask His forgiveness. With that marvelous combination comes the purification. As the old hymn tells us, “Lord, wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. White than snow, yes, whiter than snow. Lord, wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Amen!
