Magee High School Senior Graduating Class will hold their Baccalaureate services 2:00 pm Sunday, May 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church Magee.
Guest speaker for the service will be former Magee graduate and professional football player Harold Shaw.
Harold has had a successful experience both on and off the gridiron Shaw played for Magee High School in Magee Mississippi from 1991-1993 as a Running Back. During his Junior and Senior year, Harold was a Dandy Dozen (All State) selection. Harold was ranked 20th out of the top 100 players in the country in 1993. In addition, Harold earned All American Honors from Reebok, Schutt and Scholastic. Harold also won the 1993 High School Heisman Trophy for Mississippi. From Magee High School, Harold earned a scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi. He played with the Golden Eagles from 1994 to1998. Harold was instrumental in leading Southern Miss to a C-USA championship in 1998. As a result of this, he earned 1st team all C-USA honors for Running Back. Harold’s best highlight however was earning his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. From there, Harold was drafted in the 6th round of the NFL draft to the New England Patriots as a Running Back and special team player. During his 3 year stint with New England, he received a couple of awards for being Special Team Player of the week. Once Harold’s career with the New England Patriots came to an end, he played Arena 1 football with the Grand Rapids Rampage. Harold played a part in helping Grand Rapids win the Arena Bowl in 2001. After Harold’s 3 year career at Grand Rapids, he took some time off from football. In 2007 Shaw decided to play again with the New England Surge. Harold was the starting Running Back. After a 2 year run with the Surge, Harold retired from playing football. With his playing days behind him, Harold’s focus now is to work with youth of all ages to become the best student athlete they can be.
