I am like my friend Suzy Thames, “I’m sitting here wondering if 2019 will go by in a blur like 2018 did!
Don’t believe I’ve ever felt like time went as quickly as it did last year!”

Many of us can identify with Suzy’s words.

I honestly can not believe the 2019 will be upon us in just a few days.

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

April 8, 2026

As I look back at the happenings of 2018, I am amazed at the progress Magee and Simpson County has made. I am amazed at the new people in political offices. I’m amazed at the changes in our schools…and I a saddened by the people who passed away in 2018.

MageeNews so lots of changes and upgrades during 2018. After Charlie White’s children started school, she came on board to boast us in many areas. She has so many ideas! Patrice kept the website going and continually reported on all Board of Supervisors meetings, Board of Alderman meetings, and School Board meetings. Zach Holbrook joined MageeNews during the summer and brought a much needed young person’s view of the political world. He added a new show to MageeNews, The TalkShow featuring people in high places answering the hard questions. MageeNews was graced with several political folks stopping by and promoting their candidacy: Delbert Hosemann; Cindy Hyde-Smith; Chris McDaniel; Judge Jeff Weill, David McCarty, Whit Hughes, Perry Parker, Price Wallace, Chris Purdum, Hayes Patrick; Clif Brown; Cemper Scott; Dusty Drennan, Lori King, Tracy Brown, Chris Jones…and I imagine I left someone out! We had a revolving door of politicians and plan to have even more in 2019. We hosted our first ever Christmas Virtual Tour of Homes which has been hugely successful! I would like to see us visit more places in our county bringing the happenings of Simpson County into your home by your computer or phone.

I wish the best to each of you in the coming year. Your support and friendship to MageeNews is greatly appreciated. We began our 12th year in 2019! Who would ever believed a BYW newsletter would turn into a world wide read news site!

MageeNews plans to always be free…we don’t charge you anything to read our site. But, if you feel so led, we do have a donate button at the bottom of the site! Help us continue to grow!

Blessings to each of you. I look forward to our times together in 2019!

Check out the video for a look at 2018 in review.
