My only living aunt, Jean Ross of Pelahatchie, turned 94 this weekend! Is she not beautiful!
Jean is a sister to my mother, Mary Ruth Horn Dickey.
Jean is one of 5 of the “Horn” children. She actually grew up in the house I now live in!
Bertha Jean Horn Ross is a graduate of Magee High School! She owned a business on Main Street Pelahatchie for many years.
She is the mother to Barbara, Knox Jr, Deborah, and Rebecca!
I adore my Aunt Jean and wish her a happy happy birthday!
I think I’ve told the story before. When my husband Gilbert was dying, we were in the back bedroom (I kept him at home). I was sitting by Gilbert and heard noise in the hall. I looked up and there was Jean…who actually at that time looked just like my deceased mother. I will never forget the love and appreciation I felt for Jean when she came to see about me during a very difficult time in my life.
My mother, Mary Ruth, was the oldest child. My uncle, Dr. L. G. Horn, Jr. (Gebe) was next in line. Jean was the third child. Willie Grace Everett was the baby girl. Dr. Paul Horn was the baby of the Lace and Bertha Horn family.
