Speaker of the House Philip Gunn spoke to all in attendance at the Simpson County Development Foundation annual membership meeting Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Gunn spoke on the latest bills passed and action at the capitol this last session.
- A 12% pay raise for teachers and assistant teachers was passed this year.
- One of the largest state income tax cuts was explained.
- Redistricting took place with the new census.
- Passed an outdoor steward fund.
- Equal pay act.
Both Simpson County Hospitals, Magee General Hospital and Simpson General, were awarded Community Partners of the Year.
Air South was chosen as Business of the Year.
Current President Christian Carrico passed the gavel to new incoming President Josh Pierce.
Members were treated to a great lunch by Chris Williams.
