At approximately 11:24 a.m. on October 2, 2025, Magee Emergency Dispatch received multiple reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Magee Middle School. Officers responded immediately and arrived on scene within minutes.

Witnesses reported hearing shouting but did not observe a shooter. After a swift search of the area, officers located and made contact with Todd C. Allen. Allen was subsequently charged with Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits. Although he was found to be under the influence at the time, he was on his own property during the incident and was therefore not charged with public intoxication.

We want to remind the public that firing a weapon within city limits is illegal, except in cases of self-defense. Safety is our top priority, and violations of this ordinance will be handled with zero tolerance.

I would like to take a moment to commend the school resource officer for his prompt and decisive response, as well as the staff at both Magee Middle School and Magee High School. Their immediate action in following lockdown procedures ensured the continued safety of all students and staff.

To parents and guardians: Please understand that during lockdowns, you may not receive an instant notification. This is intentional. Delays help minimize confusion and allow first responders to secure the situation as efficiently and safely as possible.

While this incident did not involve the school directly, its close proximity was deeply concerning—and we take that seriously.

One thing remains certain: when it comes to protecting our children and community, the Magee Police Department will always respond with urgency, professionalism, and resolve.
