Daniel C. Jones, District Attorney, announces the jury trial conviction of Paul Crosby for manslaughter in the death of James Potts.

Collins- District Attorney Daniel C. Jones announced that on Thursday, January 29, 2015, a Covington County trial jury found Defendant Paul Crosby, 30, of Crosbytown, guilty of manslaughter in the death of James Potts.

Potts’ death occurred after Defendant Crosby tussled with him. Crosby had struck Potts with a stick and then proceeded to stab him.

District Attorney Jones stated that “ADA Wendell James and ADA Wilton McNair did an excellent job in trying the case”.

Defendant Paul Crosby was convicted of manslaughter and therefore will be sentenced by Judge Eddie H. Bowen on the 20th day of February, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Covington County Court House in Collins, Mississippi.

District Attorney Jones went on to say that his office “prosecutes criminals without passion, prejudice, improper influence, political standing, financial standing, or regards to race” and it is his duty to “ensure that justice will be served with each and every case [his] office handles.”

Daniel C. Jones represents the 13th Circuit Court District which includes Covington, Jasper, Simpson, and Smith counties.
