The word of today, of course, is freezing! Today brings our first full freeze of the year…and I don’t doubt it one bit! When the “climate” changes a little this morning and the sun peaks out…I’ll take a picture of my dead potato vines (makes me sad…but this signals winner to me!)

Please check out “The Silver Tree” on Happenings/Out and About on MageeNews. Jane Little tells our first Christmas story! Please share your Christmas memory with Sue@mageenews.com. I love hearing “memory” stories.

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

$1,300 was given at the Community Wide Thanksgiving Service for City of Magee Transient Fund. According to Transient Fund director, Diane McPhail, $1.300 is the largest amount ever given. “We appreciate the money donated by the community…the money is used to help people in need who pass through our city and require assistance.” Although $1,300 is a record breaker, additional funds are needed. To donate to the fund, make your check out to Magee Transient Fund and take to the Magee Police Department or Diane at Simpson County Medical Supply. (She takes cash too!!!!!)

Charlie Neely White’s grandmother, Lila McRight (the 90 year old Queen of Ole Miss…and friend to many) is sick. Mother Lila needs our prayers. Grandma Lila has a large family…five Neely girls and their mama Lila Neely…are asking for prayers for their sweet grandmother. Grandma Lila is featured in many Ole Miss promotions during football season. She is a former Ole Miss Cheerleader! We at MageeNews.com are praying for Grandma and the family.

Prayers for Joyce Walker who remains in ICU at a Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg. Joyce as been diagnosed with the broken heart syndrome as well as lung cancer. I had never heard of the broke heart syndrome…but it is a real “doctor” diagnosis. Her family was meeting with the doctor Sunday to discuss her health care.

Continued prayers for: Bill Parham, Ruby Rankin, Mr. Anderson, June Berry, Frances Gordon, Jeanette Douglas, Ford and Adean Bishop, Jackie Styron, Hazel Speed, Nan Craven, Tommy Everett, Delores Vinson, Jean Beatty, Brother Paul Padgett (recovering from knee surgery), Mr and Mrs J. M Shows (Becky Crout’s parents), Kay Arnold, Troy Hudspeth, Pam Walley…please feel free to send your prayer request to Sue@ mageenews.com We have a wonderful prayer group…prayer warriors…I’ll put ‘em to work!

The Turkey Bowl!!! You are invited to the 2nd Simpson County Turkey Flag Football Tournament. The Turkey Bowl will be played tonight (Monday) beginning at 2:30 PM at the Magee Sportsplex. Contact Jared Cummings of Harrisville Baptist Church (601-720-3905)).

Donations are needed for the Christmas Shop! The Christmas Shop is Saturday, December 5th. Items may be taken to First Baptist Church Family Life Center…new toys, food, and clothing needed.

Christmas Tour of Homes is Sunday, December 6th. Three homes, Bill & Linda Bennett, Danny Moseley, Lee & Beth Moore, have graciously agreed to open their home for missions. The Tour of Homes is the only fundraiser of our BYW (Ollie Mayhall Baptist Young Women of the First Baptist Church of Magee). Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Simpson County Medical Supply, MageeNews.com, or from members of BYW. (Susan Smith at MGH). The tour is a great outing for families…and a special way to begin the Christmas season.

Have a great day!
