The word of today seems to be “get ready”…the cold is on the way! Be sure you’ve got pipes covered, water dripping, plants & pets inside…and all that other cold weather stuff we’re supposed to do.

My other word of the day is deer……today is the first day of gun deer season…I bet the “stands” are full this nice chilly morning! Please, be ready to send me all deer pictures…the Mooie Looie is coming back—details coming next week (Big Buck contest)

The first frost/freeze brings lots of changes…my potato vine plants will die…beautiful one day and then zap…gone…same thing with several garden items.

Lock Your Car Doors!

This is good!

July 5, 2026

Friday, I received a great phone call from a very special guy…Charlie Gee! Charlie Gee grew up in Magee (1970 MHS graduate—Ole Miss Grad). Charlie calls every few months for his “Magee fix.” He and his family live in Atlanta but he travels constantly with his job. I love how many people who grew up in Magee have such an attachment to the city and its people. Coming home….that is what Magee is to so many.

The Grand re-opening of the NAPA store Friday was quite a “Magee event!” I promise I have never heard such a loud noise when the racecar was cranked…well, that is not quite the truth, I live by the train!

My friend is still looking for someone to clean her chimney.  Contact Sue@mageenews.com and I’ll pass the info!

Don’t forget Breakfast with Santa today…Mission Sale at Kennedy Springs Mission Center…

Special prayers for Sandra Rankin & Rickey Anderson’s dad…Mr. Howard Anderson. He is a patient at Baptist Hospital in Jackson…
Peyton Craft, the SCA Cougar snapper, had surgery Friday…prayers for Ray Roberts family…continue to remember the students and their families who are at Disney World.

STOP: I’m just saying, for some reason the words are not flowing easily this morning as I write…if I get names and info a little mixed up…just read between the lines…I think my brain is worried about the cold coming and getting my house “Cold proof”…

It’s time to sign up for the Christmas parade in Magee and Mendenhall!!! Fun times for everyone!

Best wishes to Caroline Thornton and Waylon Welch whose wedding is today at 5 PM. I just can’t believe Caroline is old enough to get married! Where have the years gone…

2015 seems to be the break out year for the selling of Drones. What can I say…boys and their toys. Drones do come with rules: cannot be flown higher than 400 feet, not near an airport, or near stadiums…etc. 2016 will bring a longer list of “don’ts.” Drones really are neat….maybe MageeNews.com needs one!

Enjoy your weekend…prepare for the cold…and think of others. There are so many people who live alone and have no one to help them “cold proof” their home…look around, who can you help?

Happy Saturday!
