What a busy busy weekend…and now it is Monday…which will be a busy busy week! Sometimes, I think the word for December is busy!
Brad Van Cleave, Youth Minister at First Baptist Church Magee, delivered the Sunday morning message at FBC. Brad’s sermon contained many statements that really hit home to me. “Do Well Now” …do well now?…Brad explained that no matter “where” we are in life to “Do Well Now.” Often, I think “if this or if that” things would be better…sometimes I feel as if I am wishing my life away and not living for the moment. Where ever we find ourselves…every day…”Do Well Now.” I am accepting Brad’s challenge and hope you will too…let’s “Do Well Now”…no matter how the heart may hurt, no matter how difficult the circumstance …no matter how sad…”Do Well Now.”
Have you ever been some where and the tears just sprang into your eyes without any warning? (kind of like the Michael Dunn hug!). I had “another” experience Sunday. One of our FBC members, David Kinsey who is a member of our community under the care of Boswell Regional Center, read the Call to Worship Scripture. When David stepped on the stage…he stood tall…he held his Bible securely…and he read in a clear and distinctive voice. David read from the book of Isaiah chapter 9…David read from the heart. As I heard his voice, the tears sprang in my eyes. One could feel the love, reverence, and giving in his voice. Thank you David, you touched my heart deeply.
Prayers for Joyce and Paul Walker. Paul has been admitted to Wesley! The ICU nurse with Joyce literally “walked” Paul to the ER…and he was admitted. The family continues to need our prayers…..this is such a hard time.
Tommy Everett is scheduled to come home today. I do not know details of his return or if he will be able to handle visitors…but I’ll let you know!
A “full house” birthday celebration was held Sunday afternoon at the McAlpin House in honor of Mrs. Leona McAlpin’s 90 birthday!
The Christmas Tour of Homes was a success! I think everyone who attended enjoyed each of the houses. The history of Lee and Beth Moore’s home was shocking to some “locals.” Danny Moseley’s new home was fabulous …an in town dream house. The decorations were stunning. Of course, Bill and Linda Bennet’s home was warm and welcoming. Different members of her family each took a room to decorate…nothing like family.
