It’s Tuesday and the days are marching on…and no, I’m still not done with my shopping. Each day I think I am going to get something done…and “something” gets in the way. I do not have many more days of excuses!

The arrangements for Jacob Allan: Visitation Tuesday night from 4-8 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home; Funeral @ 10 on Wednesday @ Corinth Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The candlelight vigil in support of the Allan family has been moved to Wednesday night at 7:00 PM at the Magee Fire Station. Please bring candles and donations. The “helmet” will be passed at the gathering.

46 Years Ago, Mount St. Helens Touched Magee

Philip, Jacob’s dad, called me last night and expressed his amazement at the outpouring from the communities in our area. Philip spoke of the strength the Lord was giving him as well as the people who are praying and helping. Our part of the state has always been a “giving” part…we help our own…and the Allan family is one of our own. Philip has worked at the Magee Police Department, volunteer fireman, ….working now at Collins Police Department as a dispatcher…and sometimes at Seminary. My cousin, Knox Ross, the mayor of Pelahatchie, contacted me Monday to ask if Philip had ever worked for the Pelahatchie Fire Department…after some digging…we decided he had…the city of Pelahatchie has set up a fund for the Allan family. Philip and Jean have touched so many lives. We want the Allan family to know, “we love you.”  Donations may be taken to any PriorityOne Bank.  Make checks payable to “Magee Fire Department”…and on memo put “for Jacob Allan.”

If there is rain Wednesday night at the Candlelight Vigil, the gathering will be moved into the fire station. MageeNews.com plans to live stream the event.

I hope each of you will have a wonderful day…and give a smile and hug to someone. The holidays can be very difficult for many people…look around…is there someone who needs a sweet smile?…is there someone who needs a hug?…be aware…and give of yourself this holiday season.

Merry Christmas my dear friends…and here is you a smile!
