The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Philippians 4:11-12: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” The apostle depended upon Jesus, his Lord, and the benevolence of fellow Christians to provide things necessary for his sustenance. He didn’t strive for riches or vain glory. His sole mission was to further God’s kingdom here on earth, and, oh, what a mighty work he did accomplish! We, too, should rely on God to provide for our needs as we work earnestly to make our own way. He teaches us to be hard-working, self-sufficient, but all while seeking His guidance for our lives. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy path.” (KJV) Amen!
