The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Isaiah 54:10: “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah, the prophet of old, as God’s spokesman to His people, wished to assure God’s chosen people of God’s constancy. He never changes. He is solid and consistent. Although many things are fluid and passing, God’s presence will remain fixed throughout all generations. This assurance was meant to bolster and buffet the people so they’d not live in fear. Disobedience, however, was at odds with God’s plan for them; therefore, many times God’s people were chastened and punished. Let us learn from God’s Words to Isaiah and the people of Isaiah’s time. Remember that God doesn’t change. Man does. Amen!
