The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Luke 11:13: “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” The apostle is addressing the early Christians, reminding them of the the gift of the Holy Spirit God gives to them freely if they but ask. He uses the analogy and comparison of God, our heavenly Father, and of an earthly father. If our earthly father desires and gives good gifts to us, his children, God makes available to us His ultimate gift of the Holy Spirit as Comforter and Guide. As the gospel songwriter Bill Gaither so beautifully penned, “Come, Holy Spirit, I need you. Come, sweet Spirit, I pray. Come in Thy strength and Thy power. Come in Your own gentle way.” We cannot find our way without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Call on Him. Rely on Him. Amen!Happy Friday! Let others see Jesus in you.
