Simpson County is celebrating a huge milestone in 2024 – our 200th Birthday!  Simpson County was established on January 23, 1824.  We have a history to honor, a present to invest in, and a future to celebrate.  The Board of Supervisors have authorized the Simpson County Historical & Genealogical Society and the Bicentennial Execution Committee to work with county-wide groups and with our local municipalities and communities to plan and present events and programs that promote pride in and knowledge of our history and how we’ve changed over 200 years.

When’s the party?  While events and programs may go on all year long, the Bicentennial Celebration will be held officially in the spring and summer months – April through July – of 2024, with each local municipality and community concentrating on a specific period of our history.

The celebration will kick off in January 2024 with a “Birthday Party” at the Courthouse on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
