George Daniel Shill, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home on July 24, 2023 with his faithful and loving wife, Ana Shill at his side.
George was born November 11, 1940, in Natalbany, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents John Walter Shill, Sr. and Sarah Marie Serio Shill, two brothers, John W. Shill, Jr. and Clay Rush Shill, and two sisters, Ellen Bailey and Margaret Williamson.
He is survived by his stepson DA Rodriguez (Carmen), and two beautiful grandchildren, Liliana and S. Armando, whom he cherished greatly. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Francis Shill (Jo) of Merritt Island, Florida and Jimmy Shill (Shirley) of Prairieville, Louisiana, and four sisters, Donna McCurley (Rev. Tom) of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Barbara Graphia of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Emily Seale (Jackie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Helene Lee (Billy) of Savannah, Georgia and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
After honorably serving his country in the United States Navy, George started a long and distinguished career in the finance industry, rising to Senior Vice President with two major financial institutions: ITT Commercial Finance and Deutsche Financial Services. He retired in 2001, dedicating himself to personal investments and philanthropic causes.
George was of the Catholic faith and spent the last several years of his life sharing with others the faithfulness of God. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, who would describe him as very generous as he helped many people throughout his life. His family and friends knew him as “Danny” and “Big Cheese” and they remember him as witty and humorous. George was an avid reader. He also loved traveling worldwide, including Spain and Peru, his favorites.
George’s family expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. L Crain Garrot, Nurse Audrey, and their staff; Dr. Kirti A Chavan; and Dr. Vijay Nath for their exceptional care.
A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy will be held later.
